More beautiful things I have been working on lately!.
Because spring welcomes so many outdoor activities including high tea surrounded by beautiful gardens (what a dream!) 🌷🌱🌸🌻🪻🏵️🌞

I often get asked "how long does it take you to ma

I often get asked "how long does it take you to make this" and to be honest, it is a very hard question to answer. If I am feeling humorous I say 11 years 9 months and 10 days 😆. Because practice at making one thing makes you quicker right!?.

But being serious, it is a hard thing to explain because it is not only about making the pieces, there are so many tasks we need to do in our studios in order to have everything ready to work and make the thing. Recycling clay, wedging, making glazes, keeping up with raw materials stocks, creating new systems, maintenance of kiln, cleaning kiln shelves, prep of pyrometric cones, maintaining a clean studio and constant washing of tools. Minding the pieces and drying, bisque firing, cleaning the bisque, glazing and final firing.

I also work at a different pace during cold months and hot season, I have learned how many pieces I can make before decorating, because my chosen technique doesn't allow for a heap of making ahead, timing and reading the clay surfaces is key.

Then you add the admin, the boring side of your business, and just keep up with all the changes in social media platforms, and professional development....the list goes on .... Sometimes after the long list of non ceramic making related stuff, I get time to sit and treasure that moment of making, and all this builds up my experience and skill.

So yes, still a very hard question, I don't think I will ever be able to answer this the way a customer wants. But this is the truth 🤷.

And little by little things are being made here. It is the slow and beautiful , many times frustrating process of making ceramics.
After around 7 weeks of work I am finally getting to fire a full kiln, the cold weather seemed to never go away for the clay to fully dry.
And after such long weeks, I am ready to enjoy and touch every piece.

A little behind the scenes.

I think every potter does this 🤦. Sometimes we just have to speed up the drying of some pieces using our home oven.
I am doing a bisque firing tomorrow and I just needed one more piece to fill my kiln. That pot was still a bit wet but it was the one that was going to fit perfectly, so it had to come in and dry at a low temperature for a couple of hours.
Now the kiln is full and we are getting the cycle going. I wish them a safe firing.

I am currently about to finish some stock and getting ready for @riverandwrenmarket on Sunday 25th. I have had a couple of warmer days here and the greenware is drying a bit faster, thank goodness because they have been resting on the shelves for weeks! 😄.

Two things I have done today....

Early this morning I had a beautiful walk. I was searching for heart shaped things in nature, so I could prove my teen to have a positive mindset even when things get hard in life. I was able to spot a few, I truly think there is magic out there!. Have you heard about the experiment?.

I was also able to work in my studio without interruptions! Something I haven't been able to do for weeks 🤦 and I even forgot to have lunch! how good is that!? 😃. I love these kinds of days, when I have no pressure to make things and I can fully dive in my creativity. I didn't make much, but I think my cup is filling up.

I am still around, just in case you miss me in you

I am still around, just in case you miss me in your feed 😜.
I have been working very quietly lately, the days are still very cold around here and the pottery pieces I have made are taking forever to dry. The whole making process is in real hibernation. But that's ok, because it allows me to direct my attention to lots of other things happening around.

Here are some pics of the last couple of weeks:

1.A curious neighbor came right outside our place for a quick feed of green grass and weeds.

2. An early morning walk, in admiration of how beautiful the fog looks and lifts over the forest #lovewhereilive

3. A friendly kangaroo enjoying being photographed. I am usually too slow to catch them with the camera or, Lola scares them away.

4. The beautiful walking trails in my town.

5. Trees heavily covered by a snow storm a few weeks ago at the Alpine National Park.

6. A view I never get tired of. To me being in the mountains means total freedom.

I hope you are all spending time doing something enjoyable this winter.

I am currently working on my new obsession, little flower vases. I am really enjoying making these cute pieces and preparing for spring time, because by the time they dry out, it will be that time of the year. They will come in several shapes, painted with different fun designs.

Hello ! It has been a few weeks ehh?!.

I can't believe time goes flying!, I am slowly getting back to making again, VERY SLOW 🦥 just because it is winter and the wood fire heater is actually more appealing than my freezing cold shed 🥶, and my mind is really up with the ❄️🏂⛷️. If you are following for a while, you know I am a winter gal who loves spending family time on the slopes.

I recently received these pictures from @handmadecanberra market held last month, what a trip that was! I had such a great time amongst a great vibe from organizers, stallholders and customers.
Thanks to the amazing Taylah Cunningham 📸 for taking hundreds of beautiful pictures of every stall and their creations so we can reminiscing about the great event it was 🫶.
I will be soon keep you updated with news from my slow creative winter practice! 😄❄️.

A few posts ago I was telling you about how creativity comes in waves, sometimes there is abundance and some others there is a scarcity of ideas. I did also tell you I was creating pieces very quietly behind the scenes right?!, now it is the time to show you what I have been up to 😄.
I have created my version of Mid- Century modern, using some of my favorite colors, bright and bold of course!, some geometric fun shapes and botanical abstracts.
This idea came a few months ago after a short visit I had in January to Palm Springs in California. That place hit me in the heart! I loved the vibes and everything was heavily influenced by Mid-Century (yes I am a big fan!). So I couldn't help myself to create new pieces inspired by that visit. So I have been on the making of these for a few months now.

I had a kiln opening today!, I am feeling very gra

I had a kiln opening today!, I am feeling very grateful for having lovely pieces coming out. I have lost a few due to warping and one cracked piece, but I will call that a pretty good result 😅. I was praying for the butter dishes and I am so happy these came out good!!!
Hopefully they will find their forever home this Sunday at @riverandwrenmarket from 10-3 pm at the Wagga Wagga showgrounds 😊🌷.
